About

The perception of a human being as an integral whole has led not only to the anthropologization of modern humanities but also to an interdisciplinary dialogue embracing humanities and social sciences, including in particular the so-called 'new science of history' with its numerous branches ('new history of culture', 'new social history', 'new local history', and other new histories) which employ the methodological tools of philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and psychology. The author stresses the need to update the philosophical and anthropological foundations of modern historical knowledge which increasingly regards history as a process whereby people establish themselves as holistic beings by integrating their biosocial and spiritual nature. The book discusses these and other problems of the 'new social and humanitarian synthesis'.
