Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course examines the historical period from Modern to Contemporary times, during which European nations reached the peak of economic, military, and political power. The course begins with an overview of the world by the time of the discovery of America. Students will learn about the religious schism in Western Christianity in the 16th century, Manchurian Qing Dynasty China, the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and international relations during the period, including colonialism. Finally, students gain an understanding of the world situation before World War I.
