Course Syllabus

Abstract

The program is aimed at students of the educational program "Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication" studying French as a second foreign language. The program meets all the requirements for the development of communicative competence in a foreign language. The discipline "Communicative Practice of the Second Foreign Language (French)" corresponds to the fundamental part of the professional cycle.

  • Development of foreign language communicative competence at level B1, which assumes the student's readiness and ability to carry out everyday communication in French on any topic and in any communicative situations and for academic communication in the most frequent simple communicative situations

  • Can understand the main ideas and some details of spoken and written texts in French, including those typical of academic communication
  • Can produce generally coherent oral texts in French on familiar topics, express ideas clearly, give brief explanations and communicate in most situations, including those typical of academic communication
  • Creates simple written texts in French on familiar topics, generally taking into account the rules of academic communication

Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking Oral elements of current control
    This element of control checks the current level of development of the student’s language skills and speech abilities and includes an assessment of phonetic skills, as well as oral speech products created by the student.
  • non-blocking Written elements of current control
    This element of control checks the current level of development of the student’s language skills and speech abilities and includes the assessment of vocabulary, grammar tests, listening and reading tests and tasks, as well as written speech products created by the student.
  • non-blocking Classroom work
    Classroom work – the control element evaluates the student’s work, which includes, but is not limited to, the following components: participation in classes, participation in discussions and group work, answers to the teacher’s questions, preparation for classes, homework, independent work, activity, involvement and initiative. This control element evaluates the student’s use of a foreign language to solve various communicative tasks in the process of direct interaction between the teacher and students in the classroom, including with the support of prepared homework.
  • non-blocking Exam
    The oral exam is held during the session and involves the student solving a given communicative task in accordance with their level of foreign language proficiency.
  • non-blocking Final written work
    Final written work – this element of control evaluates the level of development of the student’s lexical and grammatical skills, listening and reading skills and abilities, as well as written speech proficiency for solving various communication tasks. The certification work consists of several sections: Listening, Hieroglyphics/Reading, Vocabulary and Grammar, Writing. The certification work is carried out during the last class of the module. The maximum score for each section is 25. The final maximum score is 100.
