Course Syllabus

Abstract

Compliance today is a crucial issue for any business, whether large or small. One of the monumental tasks in today's corporate world is to comply with ever-changing and complex regulations that require daily attention to keep a business fully compliant and avoid liability and penalties. During the course we are going to explore the world of compliance and ethics in business, why it’s important, and how to develop and build a successful Compliance and Ethics Program. The theoretical part of the course will allow students to become familiar with the fundamentals of compliance, including the principles and elements of a compliance program. In addition, we will examine the factors influencing the implementation of a successful compliance program, discuss ethics and corporate culture. The course includes an introduction to such areas of compliance as money-laundering, anti-corruption and anti-bribery, anti-trust, KYC, whistleblower protection, hotlines and records management. During the practical part, students will get acquainted with specific cases, learn how to independently develop presentations, write policies, letters, they will temporarily immerse themselves in the work of compliance officers. As a result of studying the course, students will be able to independently structure a compliance program, learn to assess risks, and will also feel confident in preparing the necessary policies and other documents.
