About

The 27th issue of the series of Annual Analytical Reviews of the HSE A.G. Vishnevsky Institute of Demography, which have been published regularly since 1993. The recent report continues the analysis of the changing demographic situation in the context of the ongoing demographic policy in Russia with in-depth study of the main demographic processes — changes in the size and age structure of the population, fertility and family planning, mortality and life expectancy, international and internal Russian migration.
Specific feature of this review is the emphasis of the analysis on identifying short- and long-term changes in demographic processes and migration flows, using a methodological approach that considers demographic and migration events from the point of view of the experiences of generations born in different years, which significantly complements our knowledge about the ongoing changes in the Russian demographic situation and allows a more balanced assessment of problem situations and the results of demographic, family-oriented, and migration policies at different stages of the social history of the country.
The analysis is based on the official data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), ministries and departments of the Russian Federation, international organizations and national statistical services of foreign countries, calculated indicators obtained using these data, our own estimates based on numerous sample surveys, and data taken from academic publications.
The book is addressed to researchers working in the field of demography, sociology and related disciplines, as well as for decision-makers, government officials at all levels, professors and students of colleges and universities, and mass media people.
