On September 5th 2018, The Book of the Year annual national competition wrapped up for the 20th time. The award ceremony was held at the Na Strastnom Theatre Centre.
“Multimedia Journalism”, a higher education textbook edited by Anna G. Kachkaeva and Svetlana A. Shomova, won in the category “The 21st Century Textbook”. The book was published by the Higher School of Economics Publishing House in 2017, in the HSE Textbooks series. The winners were given their awards by Vladimir Miklushevsky, Rector of the Moscow Polytechnic University.
The textbook discusses trends, approaches, technologies, special aspects and principles of journalists’ work in the new digital multimedia format. It expands our conception of the “ubiquitous” media, shows the connection between multi- or transmedia and creative industries, as well as between media communications and digital economics. The authors offer a series of views on different aspects of the modern world of digital technologies, multimedia environment, as well as the past, present, and future of multimedia journalism. The book is designed for journalism students, journalists, media workers of all kinds, and all interested in modern multimedia communications.
In 2018, more than 500 titles from more than 120 publishing houses and organizations from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Magadan, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Ufa, Khabarovsk, and other regions of the country were submitted for the competition.
