On November 17th, 2015, the fourth lecture in the World Class series took place in Moscow. This is a joint lecture cycle organized by Yegor Gaidar Foundation and the USRF foundation, and the speaker on this occasion was Ronald Inglehart, Professor at Michigan University and Academic Supervisor at the HSELaboratory for Comparative Social Research.
In his talk, Prof. Inglehart tried to answer the question of how various specialists including psychologists, sociologists, and political scientists can profit from studying values. The answer, according to the lecturer, is that these the values determine human behavior, the taboos in society, the choice of economic development path, and the form of state governance.
The HSE Publishing House presented its books at this event, including ‘Democratization’ edited by Ronald Inglehart, which was issued by the HSE Publishing House in 2015. This book won Textbook 2015, the 7th National Competition for Higher Education Institutions, as the best translation.
