Abstract
This short course offers a broad introduction to both the theory and practice of neural networks, with particular emphasis on mathematical foundations and applications in scientific computing. It begins with classical model-based methods, moves to data-driven models (MLP, CNN, GNN), discusses theoretical results on expressive power and the generalization gap, and concludes with cutting-edge applications in scientific problem solving (PINNs, Neural Operators, PDE discovery)
