Course Syllabus
Abstract
Modern humanities require a researcher to have a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methods. Digital methods play a special role in linguistic research, ensuring the selection of a wide array of empirical data that ensure the reliability of research results. The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize students with digital methods in linguistics for the use of such methods in dissertation research.
Learning Objectives
- This course introduces the key tasks of quantitative analysis in linguistics. Students will acquire practical competences in methods of linguistic text analysis and digital tools for solving research problems.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Студент воспроизводит историю и цели квантитативного анализа текста и стиля, решает проблему формализации задачи и признаковой парадигмы при анализе текстового материала. Студент использует изученную методику количественного анализа метафоры; проводит статистический анализ, используя изученные статистические меры и методику корреляционного анализа. Интерпретирует полученные результаты.
- The student realizes the acquired competencies in the form of a project.
- The student reproduces the history and goals of quantitative analysis of text and style, demonstrated competence in the studied methods of quantitative analysis, uses the studied statistical measures, and interprets the obtained results.
