Course Syllabus

Abstract

The Mentor Seminar (MS) is designed to help students develop the competencies necessary for independent analytical, research and practical work. Students gradually learn how to search for, process and analyze data; conduct research for and write academic papers; present research outcomes. The main goal of this module is to develop students’ analytical and research skills. These skills gradually evolve and consolidate as students work on the Master Thesis. Students learn how to handle large amounts of data in the contemporary information space; how to define a problem, form hypotheses and validate the findings.

  • Development of competencies necessary for Master Thesis (MT) preparation
  • Instruction on academic work, including how to prepare for and conduct research and how to write academic papers
  • Step-by-step guidance for students on different stages of MT preparation: choosing the area and the topic of their research presentation and discussion of the current progress of the MT presentation of research outcomes (pre-defense of MT)
