Course Syllabus
Abstract
Global Operations is a dynamic course designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in managing operations across different geographical markets. This course covers the principles and practices necessary for optimizing supply chains, production processes, and logistics on a global scale. The students will critically analyze the challenges and opportunities presented by global markets, including the impact of technology, sustainability, and risk management on operational efficiency.
Through a combination of lectures, case studies, group discussions, and hands-on projects, students will engage with real-world scenarios, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts to practical situations. The course will also feature insights from industry professionals, providing students with valuable perspectives on emerging trends and best practices in global operations.
Learning Objectives
- To develop students’ ability to design and justify solutions for the configuration, planning, digital enablement, and sustainability of companies’ global operations in the context of international business.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Explain the role of global operations in foreign economic activity and how operating models support foreign economic strategy.
- Design and justify global customs architectures, including interaction with customs brokers/AEO, customs procedures, and function allocation between HQ and local units.
- Evaluate and select Incoterms, assessing their impact on supply chain structure, responsibilities, and risk allocation for different operating models.
- Identify key operational risks in foreign economic activity and propose ways to reconfigure global operations and supply networks under new regulatory constraints.
- Choose and apply methods of evaluating of 3rd party logistics and other logistics partners on global operations.
- Develop customs compliance and KPI systems for global operations that incorporate customs payments
- Develop and evaluate ESG-related requirements.

- TestОценивается в формате «все или ничего», т.е. одна ошибка приводит к обнулению результата тестового задания. Перевод процента правильных ответов в 10‑балльную шкалу осуществляется следующим образом: 0% — 0; 1–15% — 1; 16–29% — 2; 30–49% — 3; 50–58% — 4; 59–66% — 5; 67–75% — 6; 76–84% — 7; 85–92% — 8; 93–99% — 9; 100% — 10. Пересдача возможна.
- Case study solutionРешение кейсов в мини-группах. Участие в кейс-дискуссиях. Мини-задания в группах. Групповой мини-проект по разработке модели глобальных операций для выбранной компании. Оценка выставляется всей группе. При отсутствии студента на семинаре ему выставляется оценка 0. Пересдача невозможна.
