Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is designed for those students who do not have experience in learning Russian as a Foreign Language. When mastering the discipline «Russian 1", the student will obtain basic knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the Russian language, develop the basic language skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking.

  • The formation and development of foreign language communicative competence at the A2 level, which presupposes the student's readiness and ability to engage in everyday communication in Russian in domestic and socio-cultural communicative situations, and academic communication in the simplest communicative situations.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Understand individual words and some phrases/sentences in spoken and written Russian texts typical of everyday communication.
  • Interpret individual ideas, fragments, and sentences from spoken and written texts in Russian, including those typical of the academic sphere.
  • Create simple, short spoken and written texts in Russian, clearly expressing thoughts using mostly simple sentences.
  • Participate in a simple conversation in Russian, including one typical of the academic sphere.
  • Connect several short sentences into a simple oral and written statement in Russian in terms of content.
  • Engage in a simple conversation by asking/answering simple questions and responding to the interlocutor's speech with basic phrases in Russian.

    This assessment component evaluates the student's use of a foreign language to solve various communicative tasks during direct interaction between the teacher and students in the classroom, including based on prepared homework.

    Current control is conducted in an in-class format and includes 8 to 10 elements. The final grade is the arithmetic mean of all current assessment elements. The final grade is not rounded.

    Current assessment is conducted in an in-class format and includes 8 to 10 elements. The final grade is the arithmetic mean of all current assessment elements. The final grade is not rounded.

    This assessment element evaluates the student's level of lexical and grammatical skills, listening and reading skills, and proficiency in written speech for solving various communicative tasks.
