Course Syllabus

Abstract

The notion of characteristic classes is one of the most important concept of algebraic topology; they measure topological complexity of bundles, manifolds, etc. We will concentrate in the characteristic Chern classes of complex vector bundles in this course, and on their applications to enumerative problems of complex projective geometry. The goal of the course is just familiarity with the notion of characteristic classes but also the ability to apply the machinery of Chern classes to particular enumerative problems in an explicit numerical form.
