Course Syllabus
Abstract
An introductive course of Russian dialectology for students who are interested in history of language. The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the study of Russian dialects. Various dimensions of dialectal variation may be targeted, including phonetics, morphology, syntax, and lexicon. More specifically, two geographical area of the author’s deeper expertise will be focused on, the Arkhangelsk and Zakarpatje dialects. The course views dialects primarily from the viewpoint of historical linguistics but also of sociolinguistic variation.Prerequisites: - the course "History of the Russian language" or - the course "Theoretical grammar of the Russian language" or an interview with the lecturer
