Abstract
The course offers an advanced analysis and discussion of macro-factors shaping the development of digital economy and digital business practices in the Asia-Pacific region. Specifically, the course includes five analytical blocks. Block I traces major mega-trends that define the evolution of global digital economy and global digital business, as well as points out salient features of the Asia-Pacific region from a digital economy and a digital business perspective. Block II discusses selected regulatory aspects of Asia-Pacific digital economy and digital commercial practices, as well as data localization regulations, fintech-related issues and central bank digital currencies (CBDC) in various Asia-Pacific states. Block III outlines retail practices, including neuro-marketing across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as HealthTech, influencers and the impact of the Metaverse. Block IV reveals the specificity of digital infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region: the 5G internet, data centers, smart logistics and smart cities. Block V explores in detail the corporate aspects of Asia-Pacific digitalization (exemplified by chaebols, keiretsu, Taiwanese corporations and Chinese government-linked companies), as well as scrutinizes main types and examples of digital platforms across the Asia-Pacific region (exemplified by Line, Bukalapak and Pomelo). In Block VI, regional EdTech practices are considered. Block VII gives insights into DX-related conceptual questions and trends, as well as scrutinizes selected DX-related theoretical aspects. Selected digitalization-related resources and metrics are offered. The course applies advanced and immersive learning and teaching techniques, which makes in comprehensive, insightful and eventually rewarding.
