The monograph describes an empirical sociological study of informal economic practices (crafts) in the Russian province. The study was carried out in 2016–2020 and covers about half of the countryʼs regions. The types of crafts are identified and described. The main resources involved in the implementation of householdsʼ informal economic activities have been identified. Special attention is paid to archaic crafts in comparison with modern ones. This ratio has been identified as the main condition for the sustainability of local societies. The tendencies of residential specialization of crafts (in cities, towns, and rural areas) are described. The crafts specialization of individual communities and settlements is described. A typology of trades practiced in various Russian local societies has been developed.
