The textbook deals with economic activities that bypass formal contracts and are not accountable to the state. Such economy is regulated by traditions, social norms and informal arrangements between its participants. The reasons and regularities of shadow and criminal activity, domestic economy and the economy of inter-family gift exchange are discussed. The material is presented in the most accessible form and gives an idea about general approaches to the analysis of different segments of informal economy, about the history of cognition and methods of measurement of this phenomenon.
This book can be used as a basis for a separate course, as well as within the courses of sociological, economic and managerial education.
