An Apologia of the Political

Valery Podoroga
2010
In Russian
Number of pages: 288
ISBN: 978-5-7598-0737-7

Valery Podoroga (born in 1946) is a prominent Russian philosopher and the author of Metaphysics of Landscape (1992), Phenomenology of the Body (1995), Mimesis: Materials for the Analytical Anthropology of Literature (two volumes, 2006 - 2010), and numerous articles, interviews, and mainstream media publications.

This book is a collection of essays and other materials, unpublished or published in little known sources over the past decades. The author uses his own unique Analytical Anthropology Method to analyze various areas of human experience, and shows how the knowledge built in different systems of thought acquires the value of political knowledge. He explains that the 'political' here has nothing to do with 'real politics' but rather with the strategies of acquiring knowledge that exist within the framework of personal freedom.
