Course Syllabus
Abstract
International relations is the fundamental course designed specifically for beginners for are unfamiliar with politics, diplomacy and other related studies. It is an introductory discipline that could become their first step on the way to more advanced classes. International relations serves as a interdisciplinary discipline aimed at developing broad skills. Its primary focus lies in understanding the realm of interstate communication with a view to giving specific responses to the following question: 1) What era are we currently living in? 2) What world order are we trying to build? 3) Do states serve as the primary actors on the international stage?
Learning Objectives
- The course aims to familiarize the students with key developments that are unfolding in the international arena.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students are familiar with the key concepts and theories of international relations.
- Students are able to identify the most important trends of global development.
- Students are able to apply the acquired knowledge to explain current political realities

- Introduction. Theory and History of International Relations;
- United Nations in Contemporary International Relations
- Network Diplomacy: G7/G8, BRICS and G20
- Arms control and nuclear weapons. Traditional Threats and Challenges to International Security
- Terrorism and Other “New” Threats and Challenges to International Security
- Eurasia as a Regional Subsystem of Contemporary International Relations.
- Asia-Pacific as a Regional Subsystem of Contemporary International Relations
- Middle East and North Africa as a Regional Subsystem of Contemporary International Relations
- Africa as a Regional Subsystem of Contemporary International Relations.
