Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course examines the system of resolution of disputes arising in sport: from internal bodies of federations and leagues to national sports arbitration and the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. Students study the jurisdiction and procedure of each level, the typology of disputes and the specifics of proof and remedies in sports matters. Landmark cases on eligibility, transfers, doping and disciplinary sanctions are analyzed throughout. The course prepares lawyers for representing athletes, clubs and federations in sports dispute resolution bodies. Course Objective The aim of the course is to develop students' systematic knowledge of the bodies and procedures of sports dispute resolution and the ability to represent the interests of sports subjects in such disputes.

  • The objective of this course is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of sports-related disputes, their legal and ethical foundations, and resolution mechanisms. By the end of the course, learners will be able to analyze real-world cases, apply sports law principles, and develop strategies for fair conflict resolution in professional and amateur sports.
