Course Syllabus
Abstract
The research seminar spans various aspects of foreign language teachers' contunuous professional development, including preparation and taking international language exams along with teacher-training courses and exams. Emphasis is put on young learners, teaching for exams, and business processes in managing organizations involved in foreign language teaching. This seminar focuses on learners' needs analysis.
Learning Objectives
- know the principles of creating a thorough needs analysis
- compile relevant questions to identify learners wants and needs
- forming a skill to distinguish between urgent and regular needs
- creating a learner CEF profile
- collect, process and present relevant raw data
Expected Learning Outcomes
- distinguish between ESP and GE
- define the concept of ESP
- define the concept of needs analysis
- process needs analysis
- choose the optimal methods of needs analysis
- use the result of needs analysis to create a CEF profile
- distinguish between language and communicative needs
- identify gaps in knowledge and skills
- develop the course syllabus based on the CEF profile
