Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course consists of the topics linked with the problems of constructive communication, resolving conflicts, mastering skills for reaching common language with people from different scientific fields, etc. Moreover, it includes a deepened insight into advanced vocabulary connected with the topics in order to ameliorate students’ communication skills in English.
Learning Objectives
- 1. The subject aims at delivery of knowledge of the basics of communication skills in scientific sphere. 2. By the end of the course the students are able to easily build communication within the scientific society, using specific terms and phrases for making speeches for conferences.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Importing data from various sources
- - Understand public speaking, including through technical means; - extract implicit information from an oral message of a monological or dialogical nature;
- Affective mechanisms of decision-making
- Able to solve professional problems based on synthesis and analysis
- develop effective arguments using a variety of rhetorical
- Understand their interlocutor’s intentions, estimate the context and cultural diffеrences
- Formulate their intentions and ideas clearly and accurately, truing to be rеspectful towards the interlocutor

- Theme 2: The art of listening.
- Theme 1: General principals of communication. Basic terminology and components of the communication.
- Theme 3: Acknowledging cultural differences.
- Theme 4: Types of cultures.
- Theme 5: Non-verbal communication.
- Theme 6: Stereotypes.
