Course Syllabus
Abstract
This FLT course focuses on features of teaching foreign languages to younger learners from pre-schoolers to adolescents. Emphasis is placed on didactic, motivational and classroom management aspects dependent on the target audience age range. Participants will explore the cognitive, psychological, and social characteristics that define each developmental stage, learning to adapt lesson planning, material selection, and task design accordingly. The course bridges theory and practice by examining age-appropriate methodologies, including the use of storytelling, games, songs, and project-based learning to foster engagement and lower affective filters. Special attention is given to creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment, managing diverse energy levels, and providing effective, encouraging feedback.
Course prerequisites: Students are expected to have achieved C1+ level of the English language proficiency and major in Foreign Language Teaching in Academic and Business Contexts. Students of other majors need to meet the former prerequisite and either have a teaching degree or be a practicing teacher or pursue an education major.

- Students can critically evaluate coursebooks and digital resources for TEYL.
