Abstract
The course Media Innovations invites students to critically examine and apply emerging technologies and innovative practices across creative and media industries, with a particular focus on media workflows, products, platforms, and forms of audience engagement. It explores how traditional media processes are being transformed by emerging technologies, new organizational practices, and innovative approaches to content creation and distribution across global media industries. The course approaches innovation not only as the adoption of new tools, but as a process that can reshape narratives, audience relationships, professional roles, business models, and organizational practices. Students will examine the technological, creative, economic, ethical, and organizational dimensions of media innovation through case studies, critical analysis, collaborative exercises, and speculative design. The course is structured as an innovation laboratory. Throughout the course, students will develop their own media innovation projects, moving from the identification of an opportunity or problem through ideation, prototyping, evaluation, and the development of an implementation strategy. The course culminates in the presentation and defense of an original media innovation project.
