Abstract
Research seminar "Design Science" introduces the specifics of Design Science, i.e., research in the field of product and service design. The seminar examines the differences between this type of research and classical empirical research projects, the specifics of formulating research questions and hypotheses and presenting results in papers. All stages of research, from problem formulation to the presentation of results, are analyzed both through general examples of well-known apps and information systems and in the context of students' final theses.
Learning Objectives
- Familiarization with the specifics of research in the field of product and service design
- Formulating hypotheses for student's own design research
- Developing a research program to test design hypothesis
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Applies key concepts of Design Science Research in analyzing and planning research
- Define the stages of the design research cycle
- Formulates and tests design research hypotheses
- Develops a research program in the field of product and service design
- Takes into account method limitations when analyzing research results
- Selects appropriate methods for addressing design research tasks
