Course Syllabus
Abstract
The key objective of the course is to provide students with an opportunity to develop a solid understanding of business models, cost transformation, and non-financial performance management for profit and non-for-profit organisations. The course aims to develop the competencies necessary developing and controlling budgets, managing costs to create value within organizations as well as providing insights into the application of big data analytics in budgeting. It also considers divisional performance management, transfer pricing, and benchmarking. Lastly, the course offers fundamental knowledge on managing employee performance and organizational relations, behavioral dimensions of control, as well as aspects of building, leading and managing teams. This course provides an opportunity to apply skills and knowledge in practical project assessments that enable students to develop the ability to critically evaluate, interpret and discuss complex real-world scenarios, which are useful for employability.

- • Introduction to business models, ecosystems, cost transformation and performance strategy • Understanding budgeting approaches, pricing, and measuring non-financial performance within different types of organizations • Developing awareness of managing employee performance, policies, procedures and control systems in practice
Expected Learning Outcomes
- • Demonstrates awareness about ecosystems, digital operating models, concept of value creation, profit maximization strategies, and internal reporting in organization.
- • Applies management accounting approaches that may be used in budgeting, budget and quality control, and managing costs in the organization.
- • Examines how performance management can be used in supporting a firm’s competitive advantage, considering financial and non-financial factors and the behavioural aspects in a variety of decision scenarios.
- Evaluates relevant internal and external information to recommend appropriate goals, measures, and measurement systems for managing people, divisional units, or organizations.
