Аннотация

The new course “Practical cases of economic policy” targets last year bachelor students but would be useful for both younger bachelors and those pursuing master degree in economics. We will cover most recent subjects of economic policy-making both in Russia and globally based onpractical experience of lecturers. In each of the subjects links from theory to practice will be drawn and critically discussed to give students deeper understanding about where theory works and where it doesnot work, including the reasons behind that.The subjects will range from taxes we face in our lives to more abstract macroeconomic concepts, from digital technologies to agriculture, from clashes between global super-powers in trade to major sport events.Creative and critical thinking would be strongly encouraged. Цель освоения дисциплины

Main Goal: To develop students' competencies in the practical application of macroeconomic and microeconomic theories to real-world policy-making processes. The course aims to bridge the gap between abstract economic models and the complex, multidimensional challenges faced by national and international policymakers, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based decision-making, critical analysis, and strategic communication.

Identify and define the core components of national economic policy, including fiscal, monetary, and structural instruments, as well as the institutional frameworks governing their implementation.
