Course Syllabus

Abstract

The Human Resource Management course examines the transformation of Human Resource Management from administrative support function to strategic business driver in an era defined by artificial intelligence, geopolitical realignment, and fundamental shifts in the employment relationships. Alongside with introduction to the basic HRM concepts and models, the course curriculum addresses three interconnected challenges: 1) developing human capital in environments of radical uncertainty; 2) translating people analytics into business decisions; and 3) leading organizational transformation through strategic HR partnership/

  • Through lectures, group discussions, and assignments students will develop understanding of the main objectives of HRM function and its future development in modern organizations, be introduced to the best international practices in resourcing, onboarding and adaptation, performance management and personnel development, and learn how to apply HRM concepts and models to build HR strategy of organization/business unit and make efficient workforce-related decisions

  • Understand different operational models of HR with in depth discussion of a new systemic model of HR (Bersin)
  • Understand the principles of HR strategies design aligned with business objectives, using people analytics to drive decision-making and measure impact
  • Develop change initiatives that position HR as a value-creating business partner, not a reactive administrative function
  • Analyze the impact of macroeconomic trends, technological disruption, and demographic shifts on workforce strategy and organizational design
  • See organizational risks and opportunities as well as ethical implications of AI adoption in HR management practices
  • Integrate concepts in resourcing, performance management, compensation, and talent management into coherent human resource management cycle
