Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course offers a comprehensive view of modern IT project management, combining classical project management standards with advanced development methodologies and architectural approaches. Students will study the full lifecycle of an IT project: from initiation and methodology selection to architectural issues, testing, and scaling of agile processes. Special emphasis is placed on the practical application of knowledge through the lens of Russian and international standards (PMBOK, PRINCE2) and modern frameworks (Agile, SCRUM, SAFe, DevOps).

  • The aim of mastering the discipline is to form in students a coherent system of knowledge and practical skills in the field of IT project management, necessary for effective work in cross-functional teams and the implementation of projects for the creation and development of corporate information systems (CIS) in conditions of high uncertainty

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • To know basic concepts and standards of project management (project, program, portfolio, PMBOK, PRINCE2, IPMA).
  • To know the principles, roles, artifacts, and processes of agile methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, SAFe, Kanban).
  • To know modern approaches to software development: microservice architecture, event-driven architecture (EDA), object-oriented and structural analysis.
  • To know the classification of software testing types and its place in the project lifecycle.
  • To know the concepts of continuous integration, delivery, and deployment (CI/CD) and the role of DevOps.
  • To be able to organize the work of a team using agile methodologies (SCRUM).
  • To be able to document requirements for an IT project and manage changes.
  • To be able to analyze and select an architectural style for a project (monolith, microservices).
  • To be able to plan the stages of testing and integration within a project.
  • Have the skills to apply Agile scaling tools (SAFe) for large teams.
  • Have the skills to perform basic modeling using UML.
  • Have the skills to apply the principles of systems thinking to ill-structured problems (Soft Systems Methodology).

    Group presentation assessment, project presentation. Up to 5 students per group.
  • blocking Exam
    Written open and multiple choice test questions and answers. It is conducted in person in classrooms using a proctored platform. Retakes are conducted in the form of a written exam on an online platform.
