Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides a background of major international business theories, conceptual aspects of international business as an area of knowledge and gives students a solid theoretical platform for further studies of different facets of international business. The course focuses on internationalization strategies, their classification, factors affecting choice of internationalization strategy in various industries, as well as motives and barriers of internationalization. This innovative course has no analogues and is not available at any other Russian or foreign university examined by the author.

  • To provide students with a critical overview of the major theoretical approaches in the international business research literature and practical applications of theoretical aspects
  • To introduce students to a broad range of debates, perspectives and recent international evidence on the alternative means of thinking about international business
  • To give students a close look at the evolution and key areas of international business research focus
  • To review new directions in international business research and crucial recent research issues
  • To brief students with the methodological design of the international business research and peculiarities of qualitative and quantitative methods of research in the area of international business
  • To provide students with understanding of classification of internationalization strategies, their applicability in various industries and foreign markets, main rationale behind choice and factors affecting these strategies

    Defense of the group project, which is typically prepared during 1 module and defended in the end of the 1 module

    Written test in Socrative in the end of the 1 module
