Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course "Literature of the Korean Diaspora" explores the rich literary heritage created by writers of Korean descent living outside their homeland. Through a close examination of texts from various diasporic communities, students will gain insight into how literature reflects the complexities of identity formation in transnational contexts. By analyzing themes such as displacement, cultural hybridity, and the negotiation of multiple identities, participants will deepen their understanding of the diverse experiences of Koreans across different parts of the globe. This course underscores the importance of literature as a medium for preserving cultural memory, expressing individual and collective struggles, and fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
