Course Syllabus

Abstract

Economics is a two-module course for the first year students. There are three parts. The first part is devoted to introduction elements of Economics that are general to the whole of the discipline. The second part covers microeconomic topics that deal with economic actions of individuals and firms. The third part touches upon macroeconomic topics that treat economy as a whole and not a single unit but combination of all. During the course the students are expected to get knowledge of how modern economy works and develop their economic thinking.

    Assessment of essays based on online course video materials (the assessment for this work is included in the overall assessment of the activity in the seminar)
  • non-blocking Test
    Test 1 (M3), Test 2 (M4). Absolute rating, one attempt, no retakes (max 10 pt for each of them). The test is considered passed from the 4th and subsequent correct answers (0-3 correct answers - 0 points; 4 correct answers - 4 points, and so on). Remember that only one answer option is correct (for each question). Execution time - 7 minutes.
  • non-blocking Team Project
    Group project work (2–4 people in one group). Prepare a written report and oral presentation. Objective: Analyze the economic system of the selected country through key modern economic theories & approaches (market, state, type of economic system, specialization (product), etc.), identify strengths and weaknesses, and provide improvement recommendations (for positive development of economic system of the selected country).
