Abstract

The main language of realization of the discipline is Arabic. The Сourse is designed for students seeking a detailed examination of the comprehensive economic, political and environmental security of the MENA region. For convenience, the Course is divided into sub-regions organized geographically, economically and historically into “local clusters”. Arabian Peninsula and Iraq. Wars, unstable oil prices, economic and social reforms and environmental changes are changing the strategic logic of the Arabian Peninsula. This course is designed to address new challenges and opportunities in the Arabian Peninsula and their impact on the strategic logic of the Arabian Peninsula, regional and global politics. The study of the Arabian Peninsula includes the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen and neighboring Iraq. Iran. Iran and its overt and covert allies in the region will play a crucial role in shaping future regional conflicts and determining the geopolitics of the region. Questions and uncertainties exist in the plane of future U.S. engagement with Iran. The course examines evolving domestic trends in Iran, Iran's regional engagement, and foreign policies toward Iran. Egypt, Israel, and the Levant. The war between Israel and Hamas has become a defining moment for the region. Changes in Syria, the difficult economic situation in Egypt and Lebanon threatens to escalate into a wider crisis. The course examines the political, geopolitical and humanitarian dynamics in Egypt and the Levant in the context of Mediterranean political trends. Maghreb. Migration, environmental degradation and socio-political change - the contemporary Maghreb, defined in the course as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya has found itself on the periphery of Middle East politics of the major powers and has become a notable source of problems. The course examines the changing political, economic and security trends in the North African and Mediterranean region.
