Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course is designed for students that are aware of basics of internal economic processes of a state and world economy. It analyzes the main trends of global economy in the twenty first century mostly influence by information and communication technologies. The course focuses on the impact of digitalization on the economic processes in the country and in international economic relations. It also explains the role of digitalization in the process of various industries development.

Learning Objectives

  • To form students' understanding of the basics of global trends affecting digital economy in a complementary stance, including methods for scanning environments, identifying trends and drivers of change with weak signals and wild cards, developing future scenarios and visions and making long, medium and short term strategic plans for identifying priorities and actions. These include the following objectives:
  • • To provide an overview of different global trends and driver that constitute our digital world
  • • To get students acquainted with key world’s cases of strategic planning and development at national, sectoral and corporate levels
  • • To engage students in identification of global and local trends of digital economy within business game organized by selected areas

  •  Build necessary theory, argumentation and practice of using Foresight for digital economy
  •  Identify global trends and drivers of digital economy using different sources of materials
  •  Combine quantitative and qualitative methods of foresight
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions for integration of strategic planning into organizational routines at national and corporate levels in the era of digital economy
  •  Different approaches of digital economy definitions
  •  Landscape of global trends, influencing digital economy including social, economic, science and technological, ecological
  •  Methods for strategic development, including quantitative and qualitative methods of foresight;
  •  Ways of integration of strategic planning into organizational routines at national and corporate levels.
